Raila Charting a New Course
The indefatigable Raila Odinga is charting a decidedly bold new course, seemingly unafraid of the daunting gauntlet that lies ahead. But, will this brave venture yield the fruits of transformation he seeks for Kenya?
The Power Behind Closed Doors
Political waters are often murky, the true power lies not in the public arena, but behind the scenes. It's here that crucial decisions are made, alliances are forged, and the course of a nation is often decided. It's here too, that this third force in the Kenyan crisis is orchestrating their moves, in the shadows and out of public scrutiny.
Raila's New Initiative
Signs of Raila's new direction are beginning to emerge. A notable pointer is his lawyer, Paul Mwangi, writing to the International Criminal Court (ICC) to raise further complaints about Prosecutor Karim Khan, former counsel to Deputy President Ruto's case linked to the 2008 unrest in the country. On the surface it looks like flogging a dead horse, since Mr Khan has already been exposed during his recent visit to Kenya. But then we also know that there is some kind of hesitancy at the ICC in relation to the police brutality cases in Kenya.
Unafraid of Confrontation
Further proof of Raila's new bold stance was exhibited in his response to American envoy to Kenya, Meg Whitman's remarks. His forthright and biting retort in Eldoret was a clear message - Raila is not afraid to challenge even the most powerful forces.
So, as we watch this unfolding drama in Kenyan politics, one can't help but wonder: will Raila's brave new direction against powerful forces bear fruit?
Meg Whitman stirred a whirlpool of reactions with her remarks. What's all the fuss about, you may wonder? Well, her comments echoed those of President Ruto on a locally sensitive issue that is currently the subject of peace talks.
These remarks, mirroring those of Ruto, have found little favour with the opposition and the vast majority of Kenyans who have their doubts about last year's polls. What exactly is the role of an envoy? To take sides in a highly sensitive local political dispute?
Raila roars in Makueni as governor Mutula Kilonzo Jnr reveals that young man victim of maandamano had dreams of going to university and building a dream house for his mother
At the burial of Brian Muendo, 18, (in Makueni county on 15th August) a victim of police brutality during July anti-government demonstrations , Raila revealed that Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) former commissioners Irene Masit and Juliana Cherera left the country whilst greatly fearing for their lives and safety.
Panic in Ruto camp as secret plan goes horribly wrong
As we navigate the deep and tumultuous waters of Kenyan politics, a very unexpected development that is still difficult to believe has suddenly slapped us in the face. Over the past few months, we've seen President William Ruto vehemently rule out the remotest possibility of Uhuru Kenyatta's subsidies ever coming back. And then Wham!!! the fuel subsidy is back. The emergence of Jackson Mandago's name as one of the possible persons of interest in the Finland Scholarship scam (after all he was governor when the scheme was launched) is bound to raise political temperatures considerably at a time when the Ruto administration is so shaky and under so much pressure.
Mandago finds himself in a vulnerable position due to his love-hate relationship with Ruto in the past opening the possibility of the president succumbing to pressure and throwing him under the bus. Fatal mistake number three which this Ruto regime can never recover from is overestimating the power of propaganda. Propaganda, if one is not careful, can easily be like the cocaine drug. You can get high on it and start assuming that it is still working to fool the public even when it has long stopped working. Read Part 1 of this article The latest propaganda narrative is best illustrated in the following recent newspaper headline; Ruto hard choices finally beginning to pay off and the economy is now recovering. Anybody living in Kenya will know that that is a joke, albeit a joke in bad taste with all the economic hardships and suffering ongoing in the country. Any suggestion that the economy is recovering, has to be a mirage and an illusion. And as we all know cocaine tends to give you an illusion. And this is precisely what is happening with the propaganda which is still littering our media all over the place. There is too much propaganda in Kenya and there is no way you can run
Why the "revolution" in Senegal will also happen in Kenya Why are there so many uncanny similarities just now between Kenya politics and Senegalese politics? Ousmane Sonko, a well-known rebel leader in this West African country, has also been through a lot to fight for the people for a long time. For the same reason, Raila Odinga is a lot like that guy right here in Kenya. Sonko was not allowed to run for president in the most recent election because the West has worked hard to stop him. He did, however, back Bassirou Diomaye Faye, who was in his own political party. That was enough for Faye to rise to power. Also, if polls were held today, all Raila would have to do is give Edwin Sifuna a nod and the ODM secretary general would easily win the presidency. However, this wonderful Senegalese fairy tale is not what it seems to be. Faye was taken into custody on April 14, 2023, and went to jail for 11 months. He wasn't set free until March 14, 2024, just 10 days befor
